2018-19 in Review – A Year of Accomplishments

The 2018-19 GRC Band will be remembered for many years. The bands have accomplished a great deal this school year. Let’s look back at some of the highlights:

Commitment:

  • Successful band camp (100 hours of rehearsal)
  • 12 weeks of marching band rehearsals (120 hours of rehearsal)
  • 12 Rehearsals on Saturdays or Holidays
  • 6 weeks of chamber ensemble rehearsals
  • 6 concert/symphonic band after school rehearsals
  • 200 Hours of class time, per class

Fundraising

  • 50 Bingo Sessions, raising an estimated $120,000 of net profits
  • 12 Restaurant nights, raising $1,000
  • Mattress Sale, raising $1,200
  • Corporate and Individual Donations, raising $20,000
  • Kroger Rewards, Amazon Smile, raising $1,000
  • Fruit and Nut Sale, raising $2,500
  • Silent Auction at Chamber/Jazz Concert, raising $1,500

Performance

  • 4 Home football games
  • 5 band contests
  • 22 basketball games (10 Home Games, 10 District/Region Games, 2 State Tournament Games at Rupp)
  • 5 Winterguard Shows
  • 7 Band Concerts (Fall, Christmas, Chamber/Jazz, Percussion, District Assessment, State Festival, State Jazz Festival, Graduation)
  • 5 performances of “Little Shop of Horrors”

Awards

  • 8th Place, Lafayette Invitational (11 Bands)
  • 4th Place, Morehead Blue and Gold (12 finalist bands)
  • 5th Place, Bourbon County MidStates Showcase (16 Bands)
  • 3rd Place, Simon Kenton (Finals cancelled due to weather… remember that?)
  • 11th Place in Class AA, 51st Overall out of 71 – Bands of America Indianapolis Super Regional
  • 3rd Place, Class A – Superior Rating – Contest of Champions at MTSU
  • 2nd Place, Pulaski TriState Show (4 units)
  • 7th Place, Campbell Co TriState Show (13 Units)
  • 5th Place, Bryan Station TriState Show (10 Units)
  • 3rd Place, John Hardin TriState Show (7 Units)
  • 7th Place, TriState Championships (11 Units)
