A.J. Cook is the Director of Bands at George Rogers Clark High School and coordinator of band activities for the Clark County Public Schools. Mr. Cook’s teaching responsibilities at GRC include the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, Pep Band, Chamber Ensembles, and Rock and Roll History.

Under Mr. Cook’s direction, the GRC Marching band has placed in the KMEA 5A State Finals in 2021 and 2022, been the MTSU Contest of Champions Class A Champion (2021), and has been named a BOA Regional Finalist (2021). The GRC Symphonic and Concert Bands have also consistently received Distinguished ratings in the KMEA Concert Band Assessment.

Before GRC, Mr. Cook served for three years as the Director of Bands for Cumberland County High School and Middle School teaching students in grades 6-12. Under his direction, the band earned multiple Distinguished ratings in Concert band and Marching band. The band also made KMEA State Finals and placed the highest in School History (3rd Place, Class A).

Mr. Cook is an alumnus of the KY All State Band Ensemble. He is an alumni member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and currently holds membership in KMEA/NAfME.

Mr. Cook lives in Winchester with his wife, Emily, who serves as a math teacher and a guard director at GRC and his son Owen.
