George Rogers Clark Bands

For years, the GRC Band has been supported by the generosity of the community through bingo games held each Sunday afternoon at the Rainbow Bingo Hall in Winchester. These games are run by the Clark County Band Boosters, Inc. (CCBB). The hall opens at 12:30. Anyone 18 and over can play!

All band families are expected to participate on a fundraising team. Each team covers a bingo shift every 4 weeks. Because of this commitment, we are able to provide opportunities for all of our band students in Clark County that would otherwise be unaffordable to many. Bingo also keeps our band payments lower than many other band programs!

The results are in, and George Rogers Clark has two new All-State Musicians. Please congratulate:

Josh Bryant (Junior), Bass Guitar – All State Jazz Band II
Isaiah Williams (Sophomore), Snare Drum – All State Symphony Orchestra

The top All-State Orchestra consists of woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings. Students placing the highest in the band auditions (who wish to participate) are placed into the orchestra. They play some of the most well known works by the finest composers – it will be quite an experience. The Symphony Orchestra will be under the direction of Ms. Sey Ahn, a conductor from Los Angeles, California. The concert will be held at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville on Saturday, February 7th.

For the first time, there will be two All State Jazz Ensembles. The All State Jazz Band (II) will be led by Mr. Hunt Butler, a saxophonist and Professor of Music at Kentucky State University. The concert will be held Friday evening, February 6th at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville.

A special thank you to those students who auditioned but were not selected. Don’t be discouraged! All District band auditions will be held in just a few weeks!
