All GRC band students are highly encouraged to take private lessons. The GRC band maintains a recommendation list of private lesson instructors for each instrument. Many of these instructors travel to GRC during the school day. To schedule a lesson, contact the instructor. Fees vary per instructor. You may also contact local music stores for a list of private instructors.
As of now, the Clark County Band Boosters provide access to group lessons during the school day. While extremely valuable, group lessons are still not the same as private lessons. Access to a professional teacher in an one-on-one environment is the only way to properly prepare for Governor’s School Auditions, All State Auditions, Solos at the State Solo and Ensemble level, and College Scholarship opportunities. Lessons should be weekly for a half hour, and should begin as soon as possible. Start as a freshman, and the sky is the limit.
